The museum seeks to provide learning opportunities for all ages. Education staff have run reminiscence events for older residents; special workshops for adults with learning difficulties and mental health problems; multicultural events for refugees and local Asian and African community groups. Curatorial staff offer sessions to specialists groups including talks and demonstrations relating to specific elements of the museum’s collections.
Part of our adult learning offer includes occasional lectures, including the annual Elgee Lecture given during December. Lectures are listed on the ‘What’s On’ section of the website.
Our exhibition programme is designed to offer a wide range of learning opportunities and our permanent galleries contain information on a variety of levels.
