The museum offers identification services on most objects free of charge, however, should we need to ask outside for opinion from other museums or professionals there may be a charge. We will always advise of any charge before identification.
The museum cannot normally undertake the identification of large numbers of objects.
Items should be deposited at the museum reception where you will be asked to fill out a detailed form.
Identifications are generally carried out within one month depending on work load, staff availability and use of outside experts.
Alternatively you might like to make use of the various identification guides available in the Resources Room.
