Visiting the Museum
The museum shop, housed in the reception area, sells a great range of unusual items, gifts, cards, crafts, collectables, posters, postcards, books, pocket money items or souvenir of your visit. From fossils specimens to hand made jewellery there is plenty of choice for an inspired present.
The stock now contains a growing number of postcards illustrating the museum collections, especially its renowned Linthorpe Art Pottery. Photographs from some of the local history displays within the ‘Town in Time’ galleries can also be ordered.
On display within the shop area are a few of the large zoological specimens in the Dorman Collection. Of particular note is the ‘Dorman Lion’, originally part of a large donation of game animals collected by Sir Alfred Pease, has become the symbol of the museum.
The entrance foyer contains a selection of free tourist information leaflets about attractions and events in the Tees Valley and beyond.
Please ring the main reception on 01642 813781 to find out if we stock any particular book or other item.
